The department of chemistry was established in the year 1975 with BZC combination in English and Telugu media with 20 students. In span of 38 years it has expanded with 3 combinations with strength of 390 students. The department is actively engaged in research activity and has the credit of 3 staff members acquiring doctorate degrees and 4 staff members acquiring M.Phil degree by completing part time research while in service. One minor research project funded by UGC has been completed successfully. Under the guidance and expertise of experienced senior faculty ,the department has grown to occupy a prime position in the institution and the present faculty has been striving to keep its own identity and reputation.
Objectives:
To make the students self confident and to enjoy the outcome of systematic, methodical and creative hard work.
To prepare the students to face the challenges in life.
To apply the knowledge gained in their day to day life.
To prepare the students to choose the suitable career and come out with flying colours.
Healthy Practices:
Organising field trips for the understanding the applications of principles of chemistry in Industry.
Student profiles with social , economic and academic backgrounds are maintained.
Necessary help, guidance and counseling is extended.
Under the progaramme “ Memantha mee intiki “ , irregular students are identified and counseling is given to the students and their parents by visiting their houses so that the drop out number may be reduced.
Smt. G. Ratna Kumari deposited Rs. 50,000/- for poor students fund of the college and department members extend financial assistance towards tuition fee for poor students.
Organising, participating and involving the students in a number of community service programmes.
