Keeping the objectives of English Language Teaching, Department of English was established in the year 1975 with 2 faculty members and 12 students. Now it has grown up into 870 students with 3 faculty members..The Department yields remarkable results from the students even though most of them are from rural background .The landmark of the Department is establishing English Language Lab with powerful and useful software.
Objectives:
To help students enjoy learning English
Teaching innovative computer oriented teaching in phonetics.
To help them understand English.
To help them write English in answering questions and doing Language exercises.
To help them learn elements of language such as sounds, words, phrases, sentences and their structures.
To help them enjoy literary taste and to create a sense of refinement and delicacy.
Healthy Practices:
It has been playing a very predominant role in the general administrative functioning of the college.
The department sincerely believes in the maxim” One for All, All for one” and follows it to the letter.
Despite attending to the needs of the faculty, the departmental staffs have been instrumental in extending all-out help in all matters.
As part of that, many a teacher in and outside the college benefited immensely in their research programmes by way of seeking assistance related to language and philosophical inputs.
Since the faculty members being devotedly involved in the societal activities, the process of intellectualization has become possible.
As a result of this, the college has, in turn benefited creating the conducive atmosphere for the free exchange of socio political ideas among the teaching staff of the college.
Apart from maintaining standards of academic excellence, the department has been striving for the all round development of the students by way of launching innovative programmes.
